BEACON HOUSE HAS BEEN RE-ACCREDITED IN RUSSIA EFFECTIVE JANUARY
2008!
BEACON HOUSE is excited to announce that we
will be re-opening our Russian adoption program immediately!
PROGRAM INFORMATION
Adoption from Russia is subject to the laws of the Russian
Federation as governed by their family code. At present, international
adoption may be accomplished with the assistance of an agency
that is accredited by the Ministry of Education in the Russian
Federation.
It is recommended that adoptive parents choose an accredited
adoption agency for their Russian adoption process. This provides
the most stability for the parents and the process. Beacon
House is ACCREDITED in Russia effective January of 2008.
More information:
THE CHILDREN
Children who are available for international adoption are
those who are determined to be “orphans” by virtue
of any of the following: voluntary relinquishment of parental
rights, involuntary termination of parental rights, or death
of parents. In addition to these factors, the child must be
placed on the national Russian databank for children without
parents for at least eight months, and must not have been
adopted by Russia citizens.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Eligibility: Married couples
and single women can adopt. Singles must be at least 25 years
old, and in general (with some exceptions), the parent must
be no more than 45 years older than the child adopted.
Other Children: There
is no limitation as to other children in the home.
Children available: Children
are aged 9 months to 15 years, both boys and girls. Many children
are healthy, some have minor correctable health issues
and some have special needs. All children are routinely tested
for HIV and Hepatitis. There are more boys than girls.
Choice of Gender/Age:
You can specify the age range and gender of the child you
want to adopt. The ability to make this choice is believed
to assist in the bonding process.
Referrals: Referrals of
children are made upon submission of completed paperwork.
Timeframe: Generally,
most adoptions can be completed in 9-13 months. However, to
some extent this depends on how quickly you provide necessary
paperwork, which region the child is in and how fast Immigration
issues approval for your adoption.
Travel: All regions in
Russia require two trips - the first to receive your referral
from the Russian authorities and meet your child, and a second
trip to complete your adoption.
