STEPS TO RUSSIAN ADOPTION- Beacon House Adoption Services

1. Submit online application to Beacon House; application fees can even be paid via Paypal!
2. Beacon House reviews application to assure eligibility
3. Contract for adoption services sent to family via Federal Express
4. Family submits contract to agency with initial fees.
5. Case manager assigned to family; family provided with link to educational pre-adoptive classes [cost included in fees!]
6. Beacon House or local home study agency begins home study process.
7. Home study approved by Beacon House staff [Beacon House works closely with home study agencies]
8. Home study and pre-adoptive education completed; family files for approval with USCIS (immigration).
9. Preliminary documents completed by case manager and family; documents authenticated.
10. Documents submitted for translation, authentication and registration.
11. Family participates in Waiting Family programs through Beacon House.
12. Beacon House notified that child is available.
13. Family contacts International Adoption physician, arranges to have physician available while in country.
14. Family requested to travel.
15. Family makes first trip, obtains official referral family meets their child!
16. Upon familys return, court dossier completed with assistance of case manager.
17. Court dossier submitted.
18. Release letter received in region from Moscow; Court date set.
19. Second trip for court. After 10 day waiting, in country requirements are:
    • Apply for new birth certificate (in region)
    • Apply for childs passport (passport)
    • Apply for childs immigrant visa (Moscow BH personnel provide all necessary travel and services for completion.)
    • Obtain Consulate registration at Russian Consulate in Moscow.
