REAL STRENGTH

“REAL STRENGTH”
-a poem about adoption written by a loving birth father, the night his son was born.

Today, once again you amazed me.
I watched you give birth to our son, to their son, to a family.
How strong you must be to deal with all the pain of labor.
And at the end you were smiling.
But now is where your strength will be tested.
Having to slowly let go of someone that means so much. That is so loved.
It’s human nature to hold tight when you feel something you love slipping away.
The real strength come in, when you remember love is fragile,
It could shatter if squeezed too tight
This has been, is, and will be a journey of love.
We are only at the beginning of this journey.
I know you have a real strength that not many have.
You have a true love that not many will know.
A soul, that few are lucky enough to get to know.
I know it hurts.
But the pain is for the greater good, of everyone.
For them.
For us.
For him.
We choose this path because it’s never goodbye…just “see you soon.”
The world will see you for the loving person you are and will recognize your real strength…I see it every time I look into your eyes.
